How long will it take to get my tipi after I order? We strive to keep our lead times low. If we do not have tipis in stock, the manufacturing process may take approximately 6 - 9 weeks, depending on the season. Shipping time after it leaves our shop takes 5 - 10 workdays around EU.
-
How much does it cost to ship a tipi? The cost of shipping a tipi is dependent on the tipi size you choose and the distance your tipi will be shipped. The typical cost for cover and lining would cost approx. 50 - 150 eur. around EU. Poles we delivery only in Baltic states (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania). These require a trailer or truck to accommodate the length. Please feel free to contact us for a shipping estimate.
-
What are the payment options? At first, you need to decide on the tipi size, accessories and assembly. You can place the order by writing to our mail, do not forget to add the delivery address. After receiving your order, we send you an invoice and contract. We will specify the exact execution time in the contract.
-
Can tipis be left up year-round?Absolutely. Our tipis is your best choice if you are planning on making a permanent structure. After your tipi has been up for a few months, go inside and push out all of the poles except for the tripod poles. This will keep your tipi cover tight and prevent flapping and wear in the wind. If you do not plan to enjoy your tipi year-round, we do recommend removing the cover in the winter (poles can remain standing). Store it clean, dry, and away from rodents.
-
Can I have a fire pit in the tipi?Definitely! A fire pit should be located just forward from the center of the tipi, so it is under the smoke opening. You will learn to adjust the smoke flaps (more open or closed, more into the wind or away from it) to draw the smoke best. Think of the smoke flaps like the collar of a coat and angle them to best shelter the opening from the wind. If you plan to have a fire in your tipi, a liner is essential. It works with the outer tipi cover to create a chimney effect to draw the smoke up through the smoke flaps.
-
Are the tipis weatherproof?Yes, our tipis are mould protected and waterproof. They are very strong and can handle wind gusts and storms.
-
How long does it take to set up a tipi?It depends somewhat on the size of tipi you choose, but allow at least a full day (with a few friends) when you pitch your first tipi. You’ll be able to do it in a couple of hours after you’ve had some practice.
-
Where can the tipis be set up?The tipis are ideally set up on a flat, well-manicured, grassed area or on white sands. A clear area of about 10x10m is required for the single tipi. If we set up the tipi, we need car access to the site. The site will also need to be free from underground services such as electrical cables and water pipes. Keep in mind the site should be well-drained and free from flooding.
-
Can the tipis be set up on uneven/sloping ground? Our tipis can be set up on a slight slope, but if the level of the ground is too disjointed the poles and canvases will be out of alignment and will not join together correctly. If you have any doubts please send a place photos to our mail.
-
How long will a tipi last? The tipi poles will easily last a decade or more. The canvas tipi cover is a bit more variable. The life of the tipi canvas is highly dependent on the climate, how long your tipi is left up, and how well you store it when you put it away. Your tipi cover will last longer if it is not in a high UV area or an extremely wet area.
-
Can the tipi cover be painted? The types are often painted with interesting designs. Your painting can be a tribute to your community, a personal statement to your family, or a beautiful and colorful design. To paint the tipi yourself, use exterior latex paint that has been slightly watered down for easier painting. Or another option, water-based acrylic paint for outdoor use. We do not offer painting.
